Viewing HTML 5 or Story File for Review Process

Jun 15, 2017

We have a team creating content that consists of SMEs and instructional designers.  Once the ID finishes drafting the SL2 course, we publish it to a shared folder we can all view and send the team a link to either the Story or HTML 5 file in the folder.  We have noticed that this produces inconsistent results.  Sometimes the images on the slide don't appear or are skewed.  Sometimes the interactions do not work as intended.  Or our other option is to publish and load the file into our LMS to review which is not ideal because it takes many extra steps and it will need to most likely be updated after feedback comes in.  Does anyone has a suggestion on how we can easily show our SMEs the content without have to zip a file and email it and have them down load it, etc.

Thank you!

Hey there, Dina!  It sounds like you need a solution to enable your team to review your work for feedback before going live.  And you're right:  Local playback can restrict certain elements of your course.

Which version of Storyline are you using?  We've got some different options to make this process a little easier for you, also making sure your course is playing as it should.

Storyline 360

If you're using Storyline 360, you can publish your project (or even a slide at a time) for Articulate 360, and your course will be automatically loaded into Articulate Review.  You can gather consolidated feedback throughout your project, show stakeholders the latest version, and manage resolved comments after making changes.

Storyline 2 and 3

With Storyline 2 and 3, we've got a few options for publishing and then sharing your content with reviewers.  It sounds like you're familiar with publishing for offline viewing.

Did you know that you can publish for web, zip it and use Tempshare to temporarily host your course in a web environment for quick playback?  Literally drag and drop the zipped file onto the Tempshare site, and you'll get a unique, non-guessable URL to give out to your stakeholders.

I hope that provides some quick alternatives for getting your project reviewed quickly!
