Viewing Published HTML and swf Storyline from Dropbox on a Macbook
Jun 20, 2013
Hi everyone!
I have a problem and would love to solve it. I am working with a company, and need to be able to view their storyline files from dropbox for editing and image retrieval purposes.
I have a macbook running on 10.6.8, and I have used both safari and google chrome. I cannot open either the html, html5, or swf file from dropbox to view it. I have attached screenshots of what happens. A colleague of mine has a macbook pro also running on 10.7, and she can view the said files. I have a flash player (although unsure if it is working correctly, and I downloaded a swf reader to no avail) Is there something I need to change in dropbox settings? Is the fact I have the free subscription to dropbox an issue here?
Please help! Really appreciate any advice on this.

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Sue!
First, you might want to try uploading the content to a different host, just to narrow down the issue. If you'd like, you're welcome to try using Tempshare or SCORM Cloud to see if the content loads properly for you.
If it does work properly on there, it might be an issue with hosting it on Dropbox. If it doesn't work with those two options, it might be an issue with either the Flash version on your machine or the web browser.
Can you try that out and let me know how it goes, please?
Thanks!
Thank you so much for getting back to me Christine!
Some great direction here, I just downloaded SCORM cloud, and currently uploading a file on it to see if it opens. It's taking a while, so I'll let you know the outcome.

Hi Sue,
Sounds good! :) Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Christine
Unfortunately, I tried SCORM cloud and TEMPSHARE, but to no avail. It says the file does not exist on tempshare, and just won't load on SCORMcloud.
Have you any other ideas? Chrome/Safari are not viewing it either. Really appreciate your help on this.
Sue
Hi Sue,
Hmm. Are you able to share the .STORY file? I'd be happy to see if I can upload it for you, or better yet I can upload it to our LMS for testing.
If you'd like to keep it private, you're always welcome to send it over to our support team.
Thanks!
Sorry for the delay in reply Christine,
I don't think I can share the story file. I tried to open the files on two other WIndow's PC's and they did not open This indicates it may not be an issue with my Mac after all?

Hi Sue,
No problem with the delay!
What happened when you tried to open the file on the other machines? Are you behind a corporate firewall, by any chance?
Thanks!
