I've read some posts, but I still don't get how I can precisely place hot spots over video -- that is, over specific objects in a video. Every time I play a video, as soon as I pause it, the current frame no longer is displayed.
the video timeline and the storyline timeline are not attached to each other. So when you pause your video the storyline timeline still continues. I think you could fix this with not using the video controls and make a video which stops at a specific time. So the user can´t go forward or backwards.
Usually, if you set the playhead on the timeline, the video will show that point. Other objects won't show what state or position they are in, but the video usually does.
With regard to Walt's comment above, is anyone else experiencing the immensely frustrating issue where clicking on the timeline will display the video frame at that instant - but seemingly only up to a point?
I've found consistently lately that Storyline 2 will do this for me the first three or four times that I try it - which is an immense help, as I can see precisely where on the video frame I need to position my hot spot, etc. - but thereafter it suddenly just refuses to change the video frame no matter how many times I click or double-click the timeline to move the playhead. That means that I'm forced to preview the video over and over again, making small adjustments each time until I eventually get the placement and timing correct. Very laborious and frustrating, especially as there doesn't seem to be any detectable pattern as to why it works sometimes but not at other times!
Sorry the timeline preview is giving you such trouble. How long is the video file you're using? In my own testing, I've found the timeline play button allows you to see the accurate video frame as the playhead moves forward. You can also move the playhead manually see a particular spot in the video, although that does have a moment of a delay to update the video to that point.
If you're still having trouble with this, would you be able to share a sample of your file with me? I'd like to test it from my end. Thanks!
It just so happens that I am busy today with another project of this type (interactive video), so if the same thing happens again there, I'll post a sample from the course for you to look at.

Hi Alyssa.
Thanks for the response.

Appreciate!
