Viewing Videos on the iPad (HTML5)
Apr 23, 2014
Despite installing Storyline 1.5 recently, we are not able to publish courses which include video content that actually work on the iPad (published as HTML5). It does not matter if we insert MP4 videos or screen recordings that have been produced with Storyline, both cannot be played. The first (MP4 videos) do not react by clicking on the video for starting it, the second (screen recordings from Storyline) react with a turning wheel when clicking on the video, but will not start.
I have uploaded two test examples here:
Screen recording: http://s3.amazonaws.com/tempshare-stage.storyline.articulate.com/stp18m79uabg1q619k31ave1gk9g8b1/story.html
What are we doing wrong? Should we use other formats, select other video options, publish differently...? Many thanks for your help!

Hi (hallo) Susanne, welcome to the community. I tried both your links and they work for me, see screenshots below. I'm using an original iPad with iOS 5.1.1. Maybe videos are blocked on your network?
Hi Michael
Thanks for your help! I will check this out and try it again with my iPad at home.
Both videos play in html 5 on my iPad iOS 7.
good quality too. What are your file sizes?
I have a similar problem and cannot get the video to play plus the presentation will not advance past the slide with video on it, as you can see it works on Articulate online jsut not the iPad. Any thoughts?

Hi Daniel! Would you be able to share the .story file for us to take a look at?
Here is the html5 folder

will htis work
sorry for the confusion
Looks like those are your output files, I was actually hoping for the .story project file so that I can test what you are experiencing.
I am trying to locate the .story files
just having a little trouble
Hi Daniel,
If you didn't save the .story file before publishing, you may not have them? Have you tried to use Windows to search for them? Our recommendation is always to save locally, so that's where I'd begin looking.
THese are the ones I was talking about. any ideas on what to do next would be appreciated
It is the same for all of these
Hi Daniel!
I took a look at the first course that you shared (ESD.story) and I do not have an issue on the iPad. When the video finishes, it proceeds via the Next button as expected.
Can you check my published version here: https://db.tt/OCBNeahP
When played from Articulate online, mine does as well
it is only when I use our Intranet site do I have problems.
I am contacting my IT people to check
the only problem there is videos work from Art online but links don't
It's gonna take a lot of lightbox slides to fix that.
Thank you for checking, have a nice day
Hi Daniel!
If videos don't play in your published output, see this article for reasons and solutions.
