Virtual and Augmented reality capabilities/timeline and exe function

Mar 09, 2021

Hi all,

My company is exploring different platforms for e-learning technology and of course we have a wishlist of items we would like to have when selecting which platform we are going to invest in. I saw on the discussions that VR and AR weren't something that articulate was going to do but those discussions were years ago and I'm assuming that things may have changed and wanted to get an updated timeline and or understanding of articulate capabilities.

Additionally, another feature my team was trying to determine is SL360 capable of embedding and executing files from outside sources or will curricula need to be re-built. For instance, one of the team members has a CD-Rom which has a program on it which is given to each new hire for them to execute. Would this information be able to be loaded into SL360 and launch from there would would this not be possible? Thanks in advance for the time and answer as in searching I didn't find updated information on this.

Hi Sasha,

We're currently working on a 360 degree image feature that may meet your VR needs as it'll allow authors to create immersive learning experiences with 360° images. You'll be able to add interactive elements, such as hotspots and knowledge checks, to engage learners as they explore.

We'll let folks know as soon as this feature is ready, and you can keep an eye on all our upcoming features here within our Articulate 360 Roadmap.

As for executing external files from within Storyline - that's not something I've seen accomplished. Could you look at exporting the programs from within the CD and hosting them on a web server that you could point to from within the course? That would provide for a better learner experience to keep all the content and interactions together. If you're able to share more details, it may also prompt folks in the community who have set up similar to chime in!
