Virtual Gaming Simulation

Jul 30, 2022

Hi all!

I am working on creating a virtual simulation game for a nursing course. What I would like to do is use a video simulation that is already created and embed games/questions (like some of the awesome games I have seen on this platform) throughout the video. For instance, the video will pause at certain points and students will have to complete the activity before moving forward. I have thoughts of using H5P for the video and embedding, but I would love to create the games in storyline. Is there a way for me to do everything using articulate tools? Here is an example of a virtual simulation game that is similar to what I want to develop, except it's not really a game, it's more branching scenarios- https://h5p.org/branching-scenario. I want to include actual games in the one I create and I think storyline would help me to accomplish that. I look forward to any and all feedback.

Hi, Natasha.

I wanted to add a few resources to the idea Susan gave you above.

Here's an article with some suggestions on adding interactivity to videos in Storyline 360.

You can adapt those ideas to your project and add graded questions as well for a video-based assessment.

We also had an E-Learning Challenge with this theme. You can find some examples here:

Let me know if this helps!

Anything created in HTML you can embed in Storyline. So a game created in any game development tool that publishes to HTML can be embedded. Also its good possible to combine HTML games with video in Storyline. This however needs proper planning of both the video and the game.

Its also possible to create a game direct in Storyline using Javascript based gaming engines.
