Visited state?
Oct 14, 2014
Hi.
I'm needing some guidance on how to allow users to return to a slide, but not have to play out every select state on it after they've already completed it once. I've set variables to not allow them to proceed without choosing each state, which is what the client asked for. But if they ever hit the previous button to return to that slide, they're forced to do it all again. It's on that return visit, after they've already completed the slide, that I'd like to not force them to repeat each action.
Is there a simple way to do this?
Thanks!

You can try setting the slide properties to 'When Revisiting: Resume saved state'
Hi. Thank you. I tried that but it's still prompting me to click each button before continuing. :(
One way to solve this would be to created a true/false variable. Set the initial value to false.
Then on your slide with the states, add a trigger to adjust the variable to true when the timeline starts if all the states have been visited.
I'm not sure how you set up the proceed action when all states have been selected, but you will need another trigger to allow users to proceed when the timeline starts if the variable is true.
Okay. That's a good idea to try. How would I make a variable for all states being visited?
I'm attaching what triggers and variables I currently have on slides such as this.
anyone else on this? I'm hitting my head against a wall with this.
Hello Julie. You would do that by creating a trigger (after creating your T/F variable) to "Adjust Variable", then set the conditions to object states.
ooh ok. So, it looks like the programmer set those buttons of to reveal a layer - and all layers must be visited to continue. Does this change things? Maybe that is where Im struggling?
Still not working. Could I please get some help from someone if I share my project? Unfortunately, I didn't build this project to begin with. Another programmer did. I'm designer limping my way through this. I think there is something jamming it up and I cannot identify it.
Hi Julie,
If you're still having difficulty with this, it may help if you're able to share the .story file or even a section of it here so that we can take a look at your triggers and variables. It's also important to keep in mind that trigger order and how it'll be executed is important and the slide's revisiting properties set up within the slide properties.
Hi Julie, if you post your project I'd be happy to take a look.
