Ways/Places to track learner responses from Storyline (help!)

Jun 18, 2020

Hi there,

I am brand new to Storyline 360 and I have a lot of questions. Most importantly, what are my options for publishing that allow me to track student responses?

I am creating a micro-learning module for teachers to use across schools/districts. They do not share an LMS so I need to publish to some kind of website where they will be able to freely access it. The other challenge is that the instructor/researcher who will be analyzing their responses will not have access to an LMS, or even Storyline.

Is there any way to publish this course online so that students can actually access the course and respond to survey/quizzes in a way we can track them?

Thank you!!

Hi Molly, by far the most common way to track user responses to surveys, quizzes etc is through an LMS using SCORM. I understand you do not have access to an LMS. I have seen some suggestions using Google forms embedded in Storyline to collect the data. I think this might overcome some of the system limitations you have. Have a search in the forums for "google forms embed" and I think you might find a tutorial.

There is also the email method. With a little bit of JavaScript you can collect some data, but it is capped at a certain amount of characters (varies between mail clients), but suitable if not collecting a heap of data. If interested in that, search on "mailto javascript" in the forums.
