We have a virtual desktop running IE 11 and No Flash. Content doesn't play even through it is HTML5 enabled.

Dec 02, 2015

We use Storyline 1 and 2 and have been using the HTML5 option with publishing for over a year. We have a new virtual desktop running IE 11 with no Flash  installed. The content doesn't play (just shows a red X in upper left). When we installed FireFox on the desktop it played the content fine in HTML5.

It seems with IE11 something isn't referenced to start playing the HTML5 version of the content. Has anyone had issues with IE11? We are moving away from Flash where we can so we have been prepping for this by publishing with HTML5.

Thx

Hi Brian,

I did want to offer a reminder here, that although the content may work in those browser they are not supported browsers for HTML5 content as detailed here in our system requirement.

As Brian Allen shared, you can also look at testing further by pointing directly to the HTML5 output using those URLs from your published output.

Brian, as far as scoring, for your LMS you'll want to point to "index_lms_html5.html", and see if that launches the HTML5 content in IE11 for you.

I can't speak for Articulate and what is officially supported, but we have recently gone thru a round of testing with IE11 in our organization and did not have any issues with our Articulate published content.

Ashley;

Just to clarify, Flash is still required in Storyline 2?  The HTML5 content..via the Deployed  SCORM -imsmanfest method we use works fine in FireFox with no Flash client.  Our CTO and desktop developers team prefer to use IE11 with no Flash. Is there a roadmap in place for when Flash will not be required?  Thx

Hi Brian -

Yes, Flash is still required to author in Storyline and will be included as a part of the published output. I've heard from a number of users that if they direct to the story_html5.html content they're able to view it normally in IE11 or Firefox, but those browsers are not officially supported for HTML5.

We don't release information in regards to future support or our timeline and product roadmap, but our team is always looking at how we can support existing and future set ups. Luckily we've got a whole team always thinking about things like increased HTML5 support.Once we have additional information to share we'll be certain to let folks know - and if you would like to share your thoughts directly with our team, please feel free to send your ideas along here in the form of a feature request.
