Any update on the web fonts issue when WOFF download is blocked. Even with web-safe fonts, I'm getting terrible results. At least these don't drop characters. I could have sworn that earlier HTML5 publishes supported solid display for web-safe fonts.
We had a request in to fix the issue but it got reverted in policy in the middle of a course deployment. Final push this week;) Will take us a few weeks to get things straightened out.
We asked the developer to use Calibri but the ligature issue is causing a lot of problems with dropped characters.
Calibri fails. But the others seem to eliminate the missing T and F. The glyphs are still something like TImes New Roman but it does seem to eliminate the ligature problem.
I'm not sure why it's attempting to load from webfonts for these glyphs tho. I would think web safe fonts would direct to the local machine...
Not sure why it works. Could have something to do with player-side ligature configuration assumptions based on the fonts used in the authoring environment. Which makes sense since the leading looks like it's the thing that's changing in most of the broken output examples.
We experience font errors in HTML5 when we are on VPN. Our setting is set to enable font download but fails to function when VPN is on. What is your recommendation for that situation?
Sorry to hear you're experiencing this error as well! I recommend testing the issue in SCORM Cloud to see if you can replicate it.
If the font displays correctly in SCORM Cloud but not in your LMS, please open a support case with your LMS provider. They’ll know how best to help with LMS-specific problems.
If you can replicate in SCORM Cloud, or would like a helping hand, connect with our support engineers, and they'll be happy to help test your file!
For the text display issue, this article about missing letters and wrong fonts displaying covers options should help your client see the correct font in IE:
Let me know if that helps! And just a reminder that if you could share the .story file, we're happy to lend a hand and troubleshoot it in IE. Simply use this private upload link.

Hi Steve,
Am I to understand that using any of the fonts you've shown will work around the ligature missing t and f issue?

So the Arial font will work even if it must be downloaded to the workstation or does it work because it is already installed on the workstation?
Sam

In my testing, Arial doesn't drop characters.
Hey Steve,
We have the issue documented, but it is still open with our team as well.
I will add this thread to the report so that we can update you here when we have information to share.

Was this ever resolved? I am also getting terrible text displays (missing characters, terrible spacing)
It only occurs in IE and only on the clients network so I am assuming the web fonts are being blocked.
Hello again, Randall!
I replied to your discussion, but we can continue here!
