I have an issue with a web object. I have a simple animation with a transparent background. I have tested the .html and it worked fine outside of the .story file. I have used this exact same project file but now the transparency isn't working. Is there an issue with an update?
Yes, this is something our team is investigating, so it's helpful to know if more folks have run into the issue.
I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this issue. Thanks so much again for letting us know that you're also impacted, and I’m sorry if it’s causing you any trouble.
Please let me know when there is an update to this issue as well. I am using Storyline 3 and cannot load a web object with a transparent background...the background always shows up as white.

Hey Ray - It looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if needed and here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.
The issue around background transparency is a HUGE problem for us; we are literally held up waiting for the solution so we can maintain our level of design sophistication.
This is a functionality that previously existed that has been BROKEN in an update. Importing html5 animations is almost as prevalent to our workflow as importing Photoshop and Illustrator graphics; yet its been months and months and still no repair. Being constrained to the PPT level animation tools within SL is not a long term solution for us. I can't imagine there isn't a lot of high-level developers in the same boat.
We would be grateful for any information about this issue - even if a date for resolution isn't possible, a TIMEFRAME or a progress update would help tremendously.
You can also do this without using an Execute JavaScript trigger.
After publishing, open the story_html5.html and/or index_lms_html5.html file in notepad and add this line of code just above the closing head tag (</head>)
Good news, everyone! I'm excited to let you know that we just released update 3 for Storyline 3! It includes new features and fixes - check them all out here.
One of the fixes addresses an issue where a web object's transparent background was replaced with a white border.
Here’s where you can download and install the latest version of Storyline 3. Let me know how you make out!
I've got a problem yet - with Storyline 3 - where my video clips with a transparent background are running with a 'solid' background. I have installed the latest version too. Ideas to resolve this would be appreciated!
Hi Paul! Videos with alpha-channel transparency are supported in Flash and Articulate Mobile Player (the app for iPads and Android devices). Do you know if the solid background is showing only in HTML5 output?
Hi there, Sharie. I'm happy to help! Tell me a little more about the type of object you're inserting, and what you're seeing when you view it. Is the trouble happening in Preview, or after you've published the course?
It's a jpeg transparent background photo from Shutterstock. I'm having the same issues with photos with transparent backgrounds from Google images as well. I'm going to attach an example.

I put the web object on a simple rectangle in a storyline 2 file and a storyline 360 file. Both are identical, using the same .html file.
On the storyline 2 output the web object works fine, has a transparent background.
On storyline 360 output the background is white.
I need this working, this is an obvious bug from an update. Please help Articulate!
See attached for screens.
Hello Ros - This looks similar to a report that our team is looking into. Would you be able to share the .story file for us to take a look?
Anything new on this issue? I'm still getting a white background even though my web object has a transparent background...

Hi Ray,
Thanks for checking in on this. I don't have an update or timeframe yet, but I will share with my team how this has stopped all production for you.
Once we have more info to share we'll pop up back in here so you should get that email notification!
Ray, can you share one slide from your project that demonstrates this issue?
Ashley: here is an published test where the webobjects load in at 2 second mark: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/3e7c1dc8-f1ec-4416-94d5-e55d6b756dff/review
FYI - slide 2 is my attempt to work around the issue by matching the background. Not a workable solution for us...
See if this works for you. I used an Execute JavaScript trigger to change the background of the WebObject to transparent.

Great news everyone!

The item you'll be interested in is:
Fixed: Web objects with transparent backgrounds had white backgrounds in Storyline.

Will this fix be coming to Storyline 3 as well?
Hi Devlin! Great question. We're still working on rolling out a fix for Storyline 3 as well. We will keep you posted as soon as it's available.
Is the white background issue fixed for Storyline 3?
Hi Ann and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
This fix is included in our next update to Storyline 3 and we hope to be sharing that with you very soon.

I'm still having issues inserting objects with transparent backgrounds into Storyline 360. Has anyone had any success with this in 360?
