Web Object Crashes Published Storyline Course

Jan 08, 2014

Hi,

I've published a Storyline course with a web object that displays an internal intranet website page. When some users reach this course page, however, the course crashes (see attached image).

Is there a known issue with this?

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian,

From that image alone it's hard to tell that the course crashes, but it looks like the web object doesn't open or that maybe it experienced some type of crash? You mention it only happening to some users, so I suspect it's associated with how they're viewing the course (browser, flash player, firewall restrictions, etc.). Have you been able to determine if it's happening in a particular set up? You'll want to review the system requirements for viewing outlined here as well.

If the web object isn't displaying for anyone, you may want to review the troubleshooting steps in this article.

You may find that a web object is missing or flickering when your Articulate content is viewed in Firefox.

Firefox recently changed the way it handles mixed content, such as iframes. As a result, web objects may not work properly in Firefox versions 23 and later unless they're hosted on a secure (HTTPS) website.

Hi Ala,

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty with your course - is it any YouTube video you try to add or just a particular one? Have you tried publishing a version of the course with just the YouTube video - only one slide with that, to see how it works? Could you share a link to the Youtube video so I could test it as well?

Please also check that you're using the latest update of Storyline 2, update 1.
