Web object in Chrome not displaying (but ok in IE)
Aug 23, 2015
I have been working on a video project to contribute to the eLearning Challenge #94 and wanted to practice using YouTube. I learned that embedding no longer works but web objects must be used http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline-2/how-to-add-a-youtube-video-sl2.
I was getting ready to share my project with the #94 Challenge, but when testing the published product, I became aware that the web objects wouldn't load in Chrome. I attempted to use both story.html and story_html5.html. In IE the story.html will play correctly. Previously testing locally, the web objects worked.
I've looked through many posts but cannot view a solution. My item is not in a LMS. It is located in a public share of dropbox.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Chrome: Version 44.0.2403.157 m
IE: Version 11.0.9600.17937

Do you have installed the latest version of SL? See this case:

i ran the update to Storyline 2 at the end of July or at the start of
August. I have Update 6:1507.2315. I will try the update available in
your link. Then i will try to repackage the project.
I have run the Chrome 44 update, restarted Storyline2, published the module
once again, and still the web objects still don't load in Chrome. IE
continues to work successfully.

This has either to do with the fact that your videos are unlisted or that you are trying to display secure (https) content from another domain. The Chrome developer console shows an error: "Refused to display 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kXYqYTz1c8' in a frame because it set 'X-Frame-Options' to 'SAMEORIGIN'."
If I add the video's embed code to a simple html page and then use a webobject to display that html page it works, see here a quick test.
Hello Michael,
I can see your test. I can also see the test link work satisfactory when i
load the web object in Storyline during the building of the module.
How can i overcome the security and possible domain issue you mentioned in
the previous post?
Will making the videos public change the viewing options?
How else can i address and fix the opportunity to view within a learning
module.
Thank you for your investigation.
