Web output not loading in browsers

Nov 24, 2020

Hi when I output an Articulate presentation to 'Web' using either the classic or modern player then upload to as server, I just see a blank screen, sometimes with a closing bracket (">") at the top of the screen, I've tried various browsers such as Firefox, Opera, Chrome, I have updated to the latest version of Storyline 3.46.23620.0 but this still happens, I have also tried a new simple presntation afresh with only 1 slide and it does the same thing, the problem doesn't happen in the preview or when viewing the HTML5 on the local PC/C drive only when viewed online, the closing bracket suggests the HTML is malformed in some way.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Paul!

I'm happy to help! It looks like it might be an issue with the webserver. Have you tried uploading the zip version of the published output to Tempshare?

If it works in Tempshare, then it might be a snag in the webserver. If it's not working in Tempshare, then it could be the course. Please keep us updated!

Hi the tempshare site seems to be down, the SSL seems to be expired/unregistered?

I've tried a few different locations on our insitutional server, I did get it to work tweaking the player settings (I think) but can't replicate a working output now. There is some redundant HTML constantly generated at the end of the HTML output (presumably script generated):

"

"

This could be causing the HTML to be malformed I suppose.

I've attached a screenshot of the tempshare site which seems to be down, I have also tried the CD output using the modern player and I get the same problem as above.

The behaviour is that all was working fine unitl about a week or so back, I made some changes to 1 object and re-uploaded it was fine in the preview but I noticed today it wasn't working on the server, and I can't build re-make any other items, so am basically stuck with versions from a while back. I think there were a few updates and one specific to storyline, and several major WIndows 10 updates in recent weeks, so I'm guessing something has changed somewhere along the line.

The above isn't happening for my collegues using Articulate but I think they are on a work laptop so updates will be rolled out differently.

It's quite a problem right now so any sugestions would be highly appreciated.

Hi Lauren the network I'm on is Sky but Tempshare seems to be up now, I was able to publish to LMS format and that worked when mounted on a web server I just deleted the LMS folder generated otherwise it's the same functionality as the web output, but I've uploaded a story file to the private upload, many thanks for looking into this

Hi Lauren thanks for your reply, can you point out where I get the 'zip' as when I export to Web I get a series of files, same is true of the LMS output, it doesn't seem to package as a zip, just wondering if I have to use an archive application to do this, if so do you recommend windows internal zip or another platform, I'm just conscious not all zip packages may work the same, they all use different algorithms/compression ratios etc.
