Hi, you could go to Task Manager and force close it. If you're on a PC that's using Ctrl + Alt + Delete and then selecting Task Manager from the list that appears. Then locate Storyline, click on it and then click on End Task - which is in the bottom right hand corner.
After you exit Storyline (and you have verified it is not running in Task Manager), copy your .story file to a new file. Open that new file in Storyline and then immediately save it as yet another file name. Close Storyline and reopen the third version of the file (the one you just saved from within Storyline). That generally seems to resolve that error.
Thank you for your responses. I have tried both methods that you mentioned. I am still not able to open my project file. I have now lost my clients work.
Oh no! You could try uploading the file here (or through the help teams private upload area) and see if they can open it? It might be that the issue is specific to your machine and that it will run on another machine.

Giulia, I agree with Noel. Open a ticket with Articulate Support and upload the file for them to review.
In the meantime, one other thing you could try is to open a new Storyline fie and try to import the slides from the original file.
It is ok. I think I have solved it now. I have installed Articulate on a different machine and it opened so it must have been specific to my machine.
Thank you for your help guys!
Good to hear :-)
So glad to hear that you were able to get back in working order, Giulia. I appreciate you chiming in to share.
Please feel free to work with our team so that we can get your machine back to good as well.
