I am new to Storyline 3 and need a video (and audio) editing tool, as editing in Storyline is limited. Does it matter which tool I use? Or is it just preference? I don't want something huge and powerful - I don't think I'll be needing that - just something easy to use. I am thinking of ordering Audacity or Adobe Audition for audio editing.
The threads I have read on this subject seem to be several years old. Is there anything new out there that you would recommend?
Camtasia can be used for basic video editing, but I only use it because I already have it. I had never heard of this one before, Google search just turned it up. It's free and looks decent. https://www.openshot.org/
If your needs are basic, two that I might consider are Adobe Premiere Elements or Corel VideoStudio. I prefer tools with a large base of users so support should be better.

Thank you both for the suggestions.
If you are just cutting and splicing, and simple fades, Microsoft MovieMaker will do it and is free.
