When I "View project" after publication, should my pdf be accessible?
Mar 29, 2016
Dear E-Learning Heroes,
First of all I can't tell how many times this forum saved my life (at least my work). For that, thank you so much!
I have a (maybe silly) question. I just published a project for LMS. When it's published, a pop-up window appears and says "Congratulations!...etc", I click on "View project" and the project opens in Internet Explorer and works.
In this project, all the resources are attached as pdf that should open when I click on some links. While I am "viewing my project" (the way I explained before) and I click on one of these links, I get an error message: "Cannot find C:/.... Make sure the path or Internet link is correct".
Is that normal (because we are not on the LMS but just previewing the publication)?
> If yes, is there a way to test that these links will work on the LMS, before to send it to the client?
> If no, what did I do wrong?
Thank you in advance!
Coralie

Hi Coralie!
You're going to want to make sure that you are testing your published file in it's intended environment. Since you've published for LMS and are viewing on the web, that may be why you're running into this problem.
I would recommend testing your published course using SCORM Cloud, as it's the recommended testing environment for LMS modules. If you run into any trouble with that, you can also feel free to attach your .story file here in a comment attachment and I can test it out on my end. :)
Hi Ali,
Thank you very much for answering, actually I realized I had some dead links, I don't know why, they ended with ... instead of .pdf.
That was it! I repaired it and now it works perfectly.
Thank you for the SCORM Cloud advice, I will try it out!
Hi, Coralie -- Many thanks for sharing an update and glad to hear you are all set! I wanted to stop in and also share this article on How to Troubleshoot Your LMS with SCORM Cloud in case you'd like to hang onto it for future reference. :)
Dear Christie,
Thank you so much, it was so easy to use SCORM Cloud following the article you sent me. It is really a great tool, I am very happy to have discovered it.
Greetings!
Excellent news, Coralie, and we're glad to hear you are all set! (And yes, I agree that testing via the SCORM Cloud is an awesome tool to have at your disposal when trying to determine whether or not an issue is with your course itself, or more so how it is behaving on your LMS). :)
