When is Storyline going to be available for the Mac OS?

Feb 27, 2019

I think my question speaks for itself. I work with a company who solely uses Macs and they are trying to make me switch from Storyline because it doesn't run on the OS and parallels or vm ware is not as secure, so I am running on amazon workspaces which is a pain. It's been years - when are you going to create a Mac based version?

Greetings, Susan!

I appreciate you sharing your insight and feedback, and I'll make sure to share this discussion with the team. While we haven't announced plans for a native Mac version of Storyline, we promise to keep you updated if that changes.

Many members on our team, myself included, use Parallels to run a Windows environment on a Mac. We'd love to help keep your development running smoothly: Check out our best practices for using Articulate software on a Mac with Parallels here. Or, reach out to our Support Engineers here

Thanks for adding your voice, and please let me know if there's anything else I can answer in the meantime!

I have run parallels on my mac and it takes up so much operating space, as
well as the constant windows updates - it's just a horrible experience. Now
with my current company we are running amazon work spaces and it's causing
issues because storyline does not save directly to our box drive, and it is
difficult to copy and paste things from the mac environment to work spaces.
Also, because AWS is an online virtual desktop - if I have no power or
internet I cannot continue to work! How inconvenient is that?

Hi Susan,

I can see that it's adding extra frustration for you, and I'm sorry. I know a number of us on staff work on Macs as well using Parallels and haven't run into trouble. It is important to follow those guidelines Katie linked to as best practices to have a smooth experience. Specifically the pieces about disabling the shared profile and working strictly in the Windows environment.

If anything changes in our Mac support, we'll let you know!

Also, I noticed that your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if you would like by clicking Edit beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.

Any updates on Mac compatibility?  Mac M1 is great and fast.  But guess what, does not work with Parallels, so now what?  None of the other options are good for Storyline.  Is Articulate even considering attempting Mac compatibility?  I have to assume the hesitation is cost, please just give us some expectation to work with.
