I assume Storyline 2 must use a variable to keep count of the slides viewed but I don't see this variable in the Storyline variables window. I want to manipulate this variable (decrement it) when a specific slide is viewed. How do I access this variable?
There isn't a way to exclude a slide from the count that we'll report to your LMS, it's just based on the total number of slides viewed - so if there is one (or more) that isn't required you'll just want to set lower than that.
As for the variable, the Storyline system variables aren't accessible so there isn't a way to utilize them for another purpose.
I am new to Storyline and was afraid that the Storyline system variables would not be accessible. I was also wanting to manipulate some of the variables created when a results slide is created, which I can see, but can not manipulate. This lack of flexibility is frustrating.
Will Storyline allow me to write cmi.success values direct to the LMS myself via Javascript? I read that if I publish status as complete/incomplete storyline does not write to cmi.success, so I'm hoping that it will allow me write the success values myself.
Glad I could get you the answer, albeit not the one you wanted. As far as writing those values yourself you're welcome to include the Javascript triggers and do so, and you may want to begin with the information here.
Also, just an FYI that responding via email includes your signature here and you are welcome to edit the post to remove that information if you'd prefer it's not public.

Thank you for the rapid response!

Thanks Ashley. I removed by signature.
Am able to write to the LMS via JavaScript, but am having some problems with it. May end up creating another thread to address what I'm finding.
Feel free to start a new thread or in this one, Mike! You may also find other threads searching and you could tag your questions onto that as well.
