When you don't want a course to complete on an LMS

Jul 04, 2022

What's the best option when saving a course to a SCORM file when you don't need it to complete? For example, I design courses that are to be used for information only and need to be used over and over by the same person without completing. Is it as simple as not ticking any of the tracking options or is there an option that's better for this when creating the course in Storyline?

If there is no completion trigger then storyline will never send the course completed signal.

There is the Reset course trigger that can be used if you want for the user to have a fresh experience after they finish the course.  Maybe placing the Reset Course trigger in a final thoughts type slide.

Thank you for that Thaddeus. It's not just the reporting side of the course that I don't want to happen. I need an option (if there is one) where the course can be accessed time and again by an allocated user without it completing to their learning folder once they get to the end of the course. I just need it to be available at all times to a user who needs to use the course as more of a show and tell course on a screen for other learners - if that makes sense? It can't sit in a general library where other users can pick it up at will either. We need to control who it gets allocated to.
