Where are the items?

Jan 24, 2018

I am brand new to Story line 3 so forgive my ignorance. Where do I find objects to use in my design? I have seen a source for downloading items such as buttons and figures but is this how you build your library? Just by downloading various pictures?

If this is the case does anyone know of some good sources for construction type items. I am designing for a master's level class and the topic is in the electrical industry.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Gene,

Storyline 360 comes with access to Content Library, from where you can download images, icons, illustrations and even videos.

But if you are using Storyline 3, then you don't have access to that, so there are a number of ways in which you can build your library:

- You can create your own graphics. For example, in Storyline you can make use of the Shapes feature and create buttons, icons and all sorts of illustrations. You can also do a bit more on that front in PowerPoint. In both apps you can save what you create as images, and re-use. There are lots of example in the community of "home-made" graphics.

- You can purchase graphics (and other media). There are hundreds of sites like Shutterstock and many, many others, where you can buy what you need.

- You can subscribe to one or more sites where it's basically 'all you can download'. While I use 360 and have access to Content Library, I still keep a few subscriptions. Some even have lifetime subscriptions which can be quite good value.

I use https://www.freepik.com/ a lot, some others are:

https://www.stockunlimited.com/

https://vectorstate.com/

https://lifetimestock.com/

- There is also a lot of free content online to use even commercially. You need to make sure you check copyright/licensing, but a good one to check out is https://pixabay.com/

- Check out the community's downloads section: https://community.articulate.com/downloads/course-assets There is a tonne of stuff there.

If you are looking for construction-specific assets, there was a recent weekly challenge focused on that and people shared some cool starter templates: https://community.articulate.com/articles/construction-theme-course-starter-templates

I hope that helps get you started, and do have a good look around this site, members are amazingly generous and share all sorts of goodness. :)

Good luck!

Hi Gene,

I recommend www.elearningbrothers.com .

The have got a huge asset library (pictures, illustriations, Icons, audio-files) and growing cutout people library with many People (different jobs, different ethnic). You find very much learning related content.

Access to every library can be bought via single payment per library (annual access) but you can also buy whole packages (annual access, too).

There are more resources:

www.pixabay.com (free)

www.openclipart.org (SVG and PNG pix, espacially Icons - free)

Cheers,

Jan

P.S. It Looks like Articulate is using www.pixabay.com for Articulate 360 ;-)
