Where are variable values stored?

I am thinking of embedding the Articulate Player in a CMS web site.

If different users access the player online, does Articulate temporarily store the values of variables in their browsers, or is that information stored somewhere in the Articulate files on the web site?

I am thinking it must be in the browser cache...but need to be sure!

I know that if I want long-term store of user-related info I will need an LMS.
