Great question - I haven't seen any documentation of this behavior, but my guess based on what I've seen is that the default is the arrow when navigating a standard page with clicks, and an area where you'd enter text, a cursor appears. If you've changed the mouse cursor/pointer on your system for recording it should pick that up as well.
