Which Player is Best For Screen Recordings?

Apr 22, 2020

Hello everyone!

I have questions, but first, let me give you my scenario.

I work in screen recordings all day. Specifically creating recordings of how to use and/or troubleshoot software. We have an LMS. We create slide by slide recordings. We typically put zooms on each slide because if we don't the recording is too small to what is being clicked on in the software or what the menus are. I change my story size before I record anything.  We have used both modern and classic players. It was just brought to my attention that using the classic player + locked at optimal size will make it larger so we do not need to use the zooms which is fantastic!! However, it also cuts off the bottom of the player and adds a scroll bar to the right of the player...which is a no go.

Now to the questions:

1. Can I get rid of this scroll bar? I am currently using a 1600X900 size.

2. Which player and settings is the best for screen recordings?

My goal is to be able to create a screen recording that is crisp and clean and large enough for the user to see without adding zooms.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for contacting us and sharing your questions. I'd be happy to help!

Can I get rid of the scroll bar in my screen recordings?

You mention that you're currently using a 1600X900 size. What size is your story size?

Having your screen recording and your story size the same will prevent any scaling and allow the quality to be what you expect.

Which player and settings are the best for screen recordings?

This is dependent on the look and feel of your course. We have some documentation below on the differences and how to adjust the options.

Choosing a Player Style (Modern or Classic)

Using the Classic + Locked at Optimal Size + the correct Story Size may be the trifecta you're looking for!

I hope others in the community will chime in with any of their best practices or tips as well.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. Using Classic + optimal looks the best. However, there is always a scroll bar. Unlike using Modern. The story size and the recording are always the same size. If the Classic player would fit the screen without the scroll bar and keep the recording as crisp and clear as it does now it would be perfect. However, it does not and the Modern player fits like we want but is definitely not as clear. So unfortunately we decided to stick with the Modern player. I have spent ours trying to figure out a good solution but cannot seem to find one.

Thanks

Melissa
