Which slides use which Slide Masters

Feb 17, 2015

Hi,

I have a Storyline 2 package with 5 scenes and many slides.

There are 3 different master slides used.  In master slide view I can hover over the master and the popup either tells me the number of slides using it (or the layout underneath), a negative number of slides using it (??) or that no slides use it.

I would like to know how to find exactly which slides use a particular layout so I can change them to a different master.  Also what does the minus number signify?

Thanks,

JB

Hi John

I've only seen this on one occasion and I couldn't get rid of it and it drove me crazy as I like to keep my slide masters clean so I created a new project file - imported my project into it and was able to clean up the 'extra slides' '-ve slides' that were in the master.

It's one of the 'many mysteries' of software I think

Hi John,

This is actually an issue reported to our QA team in regards to the slide masters not showing the correct use count - in the meantime, what you can do as a workaround is right-click on the master slide for the layout(s) showing incorrect usage counts and un-check the 'Preserve Master' option (if it's not checked, they can check it, and then un-check it).

Unchecking 'Preserve Master' will force SL2 to re-calculate all of the layout usage and should get everything back to normal. You can re-check that option afterward without it harming anything, but just be sure to save the project immediately afterward to make sure that the updated counts are persisted.
