White lines bordering custom button images

Sep 12, 2014

When I create a button using a shape with a picture fill, the bottom and right edge of the shape get cut off / whited out. This is fine if the outline is 3 pixels or greater, but if I reduce or eliminate the outline, the flattening effect is evident. In the image below, I start with a rounded corner rectangle (1), increase the rounding (2), then fill with the gradient image you see at right and reduce the outline to two pixels (3). If you eliminate the outline (4) you can see the flattening of the right and bottom. I have seen this with any shape where the image fill option is used. Is there a reason, and can this be corrected without having to use a 3+ pixel outline?

Hello David,

Thank you for sharing your screenshot. We have reviewed this and we were able to duplicate your issue. I have submitted your case to our Quality Assurance team for their review. As a workaround you can use a preset gradient instead of a picture for fill.

I cannot offer a time frame for when or if this issue will be resolved so please continue to take advantage of the workaround if you encounter this issue in the future.

Let us know if you need anything further.

Thank you, Emily. We had custom-created the gradient-like image to give a more 3D effect to the button, and were playing with glossy and brushed-metal finishes to buttons, when we noticed the issue and were unable to resolve. I got satisfactory results with using a 3 pixel outline with a gradient fill, but would prefer not to have to do that.
