Why are my theme colors not working as I expect them to?

Designed a new color palette to match new corp visual identity. Using Storyline 360 3.5.11530.0
But I must have done something wrong. When I create a new caption its dark text on dark background. That wasn't supposed to happen. I would expect white (Light 1) or grey (Light 2) to be the text color for new captions.

I'm not seeing the same behaviour. I just created a new colour theme in SL360. Accent 1 dark blue as the caption fill colour. When I select Insert Caption the display options are the Accent 1 blue colour with white text.
