Why do some of my graphics get their own JPG files?

Aug 28, 2014

I had occasion to review the contents of a <story name> output published folder I had created with StoryLine. In the subfolder <story name> output \ course_content, I noticed that there is a small number (17) of JPG files, along with some miscellaneous files and a large number of SWFs (no surprise there).

When I inspect the JPGs in the Windows preview pane, I find that the JPG images are indeed graphics that I have in my Story. But the Story has far more than that - 140 images total. Where are those images stored? Why do some images get their own JPGs, while others are presumably bound into other files somewhere? I can't see any rhyme or reason to it except that the JPG-ed graphics appear to be later additions to the Story.

I did look in the mobile subfolder, and all 140 graphics appear there. But I assume those are resources for mobile devices. So, why does the course_content folder treat some images exceptionally?
