Why does play3. er not track with video?

Dec 20, 2016

I a few questions related to the link to a story file.

1. I have a 1 minute video. The player does not track with it? Why? I would assume if a video is 10 seconds the player would finish in 10 seconds and if the video  is 3 minutes, it runs across the screen finishing in 3 minutes.

2. How do I make the user watch the video completely?

3. How do I prevent the Next button from lighting up until the video stops playing. I don't want user to click next until the video is done

4. In linking to a web file, I see it takes up the entire screen, can I make a HELP popup on the screen to explain to the employee what to do?

Hi there Lori!

Thanks for sharing your file here! Let's get right to your questions:

  1. On Slide 1.2, the video is about 91 seconds long, but your timeline is 123 seconds long. You can click and drag the end of the timeline backwards to align with the end of the video. Another tip is to click and hold the end of the timeline and press the left arrow on your keyboard - the timeline will automatically align to the end of the video without you having to drag.
  2. To ensure the user watches the entire video, you may want to remove the seekbar from Slide 1.2 You can do that within the Slide Properties window.
  3. To disable the Next button until the video stops playing, you'll need two triggers:
    1. Change state of Next button to Disabled when the timeline starts on Slide 1.2
    2. Change state of Next button to Normal when media completes Video 1
  4. I would suggest creating a HELP pop-up for Slide 1.3 on a layer. Then on the base layer, you'll need this trigger: Show layer Layer 1 when timeline starts on Slide 1.3. You'll also need a button on the layer that will close the layer.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. :)

Hi there Lori!

Take a Peek at this video tutorial I put together for you that will help you made adjustments to your slide properties and triggers so that slide 1.2 will automatically jump to slide 1.3. I hope this helps!

I also wanted to mention that you can attach files directly to this thread using the Add Attachment button at the bottom of the reply window, in case that's easier for you than using Dropbox. :)
