I've wondered this for awhile. I will set the timeline just as I like it - say, a slide should stop at 8 seconds. I'll save and reopen and the timeline on that same slide will be set to 37 seconds. Wha?!
This shouldn't happen without any manipulation of that particular slide. Are you perhaps copying and pasting objects from a different slide with a 37 second timeline? The timeline might be extended if you copy an item that ends at 37 seconds on a separate slide and you paste it into the 8 second slide.
I'm sorry, but that's not it. In fact, every single one of my 30 Try It recording slides 'grew' to 37.2 seconds when I opened the file again. I've just finished re-adjusting them again. (No copy/paste.)

I'm not sure why this happens but next time you reset the timelines try locking the objects on the timeline.
What do you mean by locking them on the timeline?
Hi Mary,
This screenr is about locking/hiding more than one item at a time, but it'll show you how you can lock items within the timeline.
Also, if you'd like to submit a Support case about what is happening with your timeline "growing" please send us your files here.
