Why will my layer not show when my condition is true?

Jun 26, 2017

Hi,

I've created true/false variable and assigned it to an object, so when the object is clicked it changes from false to true.

I've added in a reference for the variable and I can see when I click the object, it changes to true.

I've then added a trigger, so that when the variable becomes true, a layer will show.

But it doesn't. I've tried everything and I can't work out why.

Please help!

Thanks, Kassy

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the reply - I really appreciate it!

Please find attached the story so far (it's work in progress so please ignore the first few slides).

I'm having the issue with bin zoom slide.

I would like the learner to have to do all the interactive elements on the this slide, before the finish button appears so that they can get back to the factory overview slide.

Rather than adding all the conditions in (for each element to be true), I thought I'd try to get it to work with just one first - but I can't even do that.

I've put reference points on the slide, so I can see that they are working - but the finish button won't appear.

Last night I tried changing them to a number variable, but that didn't work either.

I thought the order may be a problem, as you've suggested, but I can't get the button trigger to move down (as the arrow is greyed out) or the true variables to move up (as again the arrow is greyed out).

I know I'm doing something wrong, but I have no idea what!

Thanks for you help.

Hi Leslie

I thought I had, but unfortunately doing it the way that Michael suggested would only work for one condition.  When I added more than one it wouldn't work, unless you clicked the objects in the correct order (which a learner wouldn't know to do).

So, I'm still on the search for the solution.

I have attached the story to my reply to Joe, so you can see the problem I'm having...

Thanks

I can only see one trigger with one condition. Unfortunately that trigger will never work. The trigger is set to fire only when the timeline starts. You will need a trigger for when variable changes and will need one for each variable used. You could reduce the bin bags to one trigger that changes to true when all are equal to hidden.

I have rationalised it a bit, see if this works for you.

OMG Phil, that's amazing!  Thank you so much!

I would never have been able to work that out.  I'd followed the learning videos and copied what they'd done, which had said that you should get it to trigger when the timeline starts.  I'd just done one trigger and one condition to see if I could get that to work, before building it from there.

I can see what you've done and hopefully I should be able to replicate it now.

Thank you :-)

Just had a look at your website and I think I may be in need of your services at some point!

I'm following what you did - but when I set the marker trigger (for all 3 markers) I get a red flag come up to say that the markers do not have the selected state.  I can't see what you've done differently to stop this...

Hi Kasey, I added the visited state (you can add it afterward creating the trigger).

Under the states tab for one of the markers choose edit states and then add a new state (the white document icon) and either type visited (it will autocomplete) or choose visited from the dropdown. Press OK, Then press done.

Then on the format tab choose the format painter (a brush icon) and double click to lock on and click the other two markers.
