Working with video in Storyline 360, why is it that when I work with .MP4 video, it takes significantly longer to render an edit, preview or publish than with .mov files? For example with only 5 minutes of MP4 video, it can sometimes take up to 20 minutes to edit, whereas it takes less than a minute to complete and edit with .mov files.
Well I've only used storyline twice so far. The first time I shot a video on Ipad and created a project importing the .mov video directly into Storyline 360. The second time I imported .mp4 video into Replay, to apply a title, then put that piece in to Storyline so I could upload to the LMS. After doing a sound edit, I noticed that it took nearly 40 minutes to complete the edit, and all the while my other desktop apps (Outlook, excel, Word) were extremely unresponsive until the edit was complete. This didn't happen the first time. What was even more strange was that the first video was nearly an hour long and the .mp4 was only 17 miutes long.

Interesting. I'm not sure that's the typical behavior, so perhaps keep an eye out and let us know if you experience similar again. What version and update of Storyline are you utilizing?

I am not sure where to find the version. I know it is Storyline 360 as opposed to Storyline 2. I launched the app, but when I try to open a project the application just hangs. Not sure what's going on at this point.
Is it possible to publish from Replay into .mov? Where I upload the videos to is more .mov friendly than .mp4 for the kinds of devices our employees view the content on. Thoughts?
Replay publishes to MP4 files, but you may be able to use a video converter tool to convert the file to .mov. I'll leave it to the community to suggest a tool for this!

Hello Eric - I'm not sure that I've seen this behavior reported. Do you have a sample of each for us to take a look?
Does this happen to you with any project file utilizing any mp4 or do you perhaps have a particular mp4 causing issue?

Well that's not good Eric - knowing it's Storyline 360 does help though.
I'd advise this simple repair to your software to see if it alleviates the issues you are seeing.
Great, I'll give the reinstall a try and let you know how it turns out. Thanks!!!
