WORKING WITH TRIGGERS TIMELINES AND STATES

Apr 27, 2020

Hi Wizards,

I am currently amending a CBT lesson to improve interaction of the learner.

Picture42.jpg - provides a snapshot of what the learner sees. Each of the five buttons appear ORANGE for the normal state and GREEN in the complete state when a series of slides has been visited.

The problem I am having is after the participant has visited all slides and moves onto the next button, the previous button does not change to the GREEN (completed) colour and remain green.

Picture43.jpg to Picture46.jpg - provides an example of coding used for the Definition button.

Thanks in advance of any help

Cheers

A couple of things that may help you. You might get away with these duplicate triggers on slide 1.9, but they may have potential for creating problems. I would change them.

Otherwise, everything looks good, except that the buttons don't change color. That is because the variables never change. SL has no built-in method for changing variables, so you have to create your own triggers. Put them at the end of each topic, so that when the topic is complete, the variable is changed. For example, on the last slide of the Definitions scene, put this trigger:

Be sure it is ABOVE the Jump to trigger in the list, or it will jump and not change the variable. Also, go to the properties and set slide 1.9 to Reset to initial condition on revisit. That way you are certain that the timeline restarts, and your triggers will work.

Great assistance. ….

I have performed the suggested amendments and the flow works as advertised.
