I was working on a Storyline project and saved it on the desktop of my laptop. A couple of days later, the desktop icon has a "X" on it and says it cannot be opened. I have re booted the laptop but still cannot open the file. The project was almost complete!!! Can anyone help me please?
thanks for the reply. I don't seem to be able to open it or copy it. I get messages saying that the file is being used by another process or alternatively that the original file might have been created using a newer version of storyline. I guess it must be corrupted. Looks like a return to the drawing board!
I just wanted to let you know the guidelines for publishing and saving courses in Storyline, and making sure the file paths to your projects and published output are well under the 260-character limit imposed by Microsoft Windows.
The error about the file may be created in a newer version of Storyline generally appears if a file was created, or altered in Storyline 2, and tried to re open in Storyline 1. Which version are you using on your laptop?
Thank you for the link to the guidelines on publishing & saving Storyline files. It is very bizarre but having now returned to the University campus, the file has now become available again on my C drive. It is very strange and may be due to the way that the software is configured on my laptop.

Sounds like it may be corrupted, you can try importing the content into a new file, or you may need to revert to a backup.
