Hi, I'm passing on this question I received that I don't personally know the answer to, since my company is not yet using xAPI or LRSs. Hoping some of the brilliant minds here can lend some insight.
The question: Can a SCORM built in Articulate Storyline 2 update 7 be coded with xAPI activity statement code and relay results to an independent LRS without using any resources from the LMS? For example: a SCORM Reporting right to a 3rd Party LRS located at a different hosting from the LMS.
I don't want to speak to the specifics of your LMS or LRS and how they'll be able to communicate information, but you may want to at least begin by reviewing the information here in regards to xAPI (otherwise known as Tin Can API).
Hopefully if someone in the community has had to do similar they're able to share their expertise here.
You should be able to re-publish your content as Tin Can API. And upload to any LMS that supports Tin Can API, including WordPress (with GrassBlade xAPI Companion and may be add LearnDash). Now, you can configure any LRS (e.g. GrassBlade LRS). Though it depends on your LMS if it supports external LRSes.
