Setup a multiple choice question with answers of yes or no, and change the feedback to "By Choice". Then adjust the feedback layers to branch to specific slides (use the More button). An answer of No would branch to an additional question that contains an essay question. A yes answer can skip the essay question and branch directly to whatever you place after it.
