youtube on Ipad
May 23, 2012
Sorry as I know this has been addressed somewhere but I can't find it.
I have embedded a youtube video in a project and it plays fine on PC but will not play on iPad.
I thought maybe it was because iPad doesnt play video automatically so I started the video on a trigger but still nothing.
The story file is attached. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Tim! There are actually two different ways of inserting a YouTube video in Storyline, and if you've used the Insert>Video>Video from Website option, that won't work in HTML5 or iPad because it contains Flash. Here's a bit more info on that.
Can you give this a try: insert the video as a Web Object instead, using the Insert>Web Object instructions on this page.
Thanks Jeannette;
Couldn't work better! Exactly what I was after.

I had the same problem and found this solution, which seems to work....except I want the slide to advance after the video ends. I set the trigger to jump to next slide after the timeline ends (since you can go longer use "media end" with a web object) and it works on the computer but not on the iPad. Any suggestions?
Hey Tracy, thanks for bringing that up - I'm seeing the same thing. I thought this should be pretty easy by embedding a youtube video on a slide as a web object, adding a switch to the URL to autoplay it, extending the slide duration so that it's equal to the length of the video, and then adjusting the slide properties to auto-advance. But the autoplay switch doesn't seem to work when viewed on an iPad, and unfortunately it's not possible for the course to know when the user starts the video (hence it's not possible to know when to auto advance the slide). I'm sorry, I don't know of any workaround for this; I think for now the learner needs to both start the video and initiate the slide advance when the video's done.
So since I can't seem to get rid of the seek bar and because I need to leave the Next button active so the user can advance to the next slide on an iPad, then is it correct that there is no way to "force" the user to watch the video? They could always just hit Next, or skip to the end using the seek bar, right?
Morning Tracy! Attached is a Storyline file that I think will come close to what you want to achieve. Here's a quick look at what I did:
Thanks, Jeanette! This will work fine, I think. I'm not generally in favor of forcing users to sit through videos, but it's a requirement of a project I am working on.
