YouTube Video's not working in iOS output

Jan 10, 2013

Hi there,

I'm currently building a proof of concept piece that includes a YouTube video. When I publish the content to my web server, everything works just fine, including the YouTube video, but when I view the content on my iPad using the Articulate Player, all I see is Storyline's playback control but no video. If I hit the play button, nothing happens.

I use the 'Insert > Video > Video from Website' function in Storyline and I've tried using both types of the YouTube embed code but neither seem to work in iOS but work quite happily in my Mac & PC browsers.

I really don't want to embed the video file directly into the project because I want to keep the footprint as small as possible, particularly as I want a good experience for mobile users.

Unfortunately, I can't share the links with you as the content is commercially sensitive, but if anyone can help, I'd be most grateful.

Regards,

Rob.

Hi Rob. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

Sorry to hear about the trouble. However, have you tried inserting the Youtube video as a web object? This is the method that's supported by the Articulate Mobile Player. You might want to take a quick look a this chart that lists the features supported by the different output types in Storyline.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
