YouTube videos not working with earlier versions of Internet Explorer

Jan 28, 2016

In our courses, we often have the need to link to YouTube videos. In our organization we have thousands of computers, on different operating systems and with different versions of software. There are still many learners running older versions of Internet Explorer, and so when they click on a youtube video link, it will not work or open. Does anyone know of any work arounds, or if you've experienced this - do you have any advice on how you've handled it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi. Robyn -- thanks for reaching out with your question! Please be sure to take a look at this information on System Requirements for SL2, and could you also please ensure that you are following the steps here for Publishing and Sharing SL2 Content?

If issues persist, please upload your file here in the thread using the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left so we can take a closer look and run some testing for you.

Thanks Christie,

I guess I'm more referring to when a course is being viewed through the LMS, we have no control on what web browser and version they are using to view it. If they are using Internet Explorer 7, 8 or 9, then there are issues with opening you tube links. The page will not open with those browsers. I'm referring to when there is a link set up to take them outside of the course and to you tube itself.
