YouTube web object embed not working
Jul 18, 2017
Hello,
I am trying to embed a youtube video using the web object function. I read the information at https://community.articulate.com/series/articulate-storyline-2/articles/adding-videos-in-articulate-storyline-2 and am using the code for my video (http://www.youtube.com/embed/x1JHMxm4mBM). This doesn't work when I mark to show the video 'in slide' but it does work when I mark to show the video 'in new browser window.' I tried making the video public instead of unlisted but that didn't help.
Does anyone know what else I should try?
Thank you,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
I tested this link with both 'in slide' and 'in new browser' and it all worked OK (in an LMS). Are there any other complications, or can you share your .story file? Are you publishing to an LMS or ??.

Thanks for checking Louise!
I have attached my .story file. The video I posted above is on slide 3.3, but I have several videos in the file and none of them are working for me. I am publishing for LMS and have tried it in Blackboard and in SCORM Cloud.
Change the video URLs so that they start with "https://" and then test again.
Michael is on point here, Andrea! If your LMS is using secure https to host content, but your videos are using standard http, your web browser will prevent the videos from displaying. You can correct this issue by starting your YouTube links with https rather than http.
Let us know if that helps!
https worked, thank you!
Glad to hear it Andrea! Thanks for the update and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
