I'd like my screen recordings to zoom closer to the detail area and also to have a section (say a header) call out when I scroll over it. Are these functions available in Storyline 1 or Replay?
You could use the "zoom region" tool in a video or screen recording and then adjust it in your timeline for where it is needed.
As far as a call out, I am not sure if I understand this correctly, but this may be able to work using a hotspot. So when a user mouses over the hotspot, you can have it trigger to show an image, or layer, however you set up the call out.
Not sure if that is what you need, but hopefully other members can add ideas as well.
Emily,
Thanks for the quick reply. Second question: Is it possible to have two
different zooms on the same slide? When I tried this the 2nd zoom replace
the location of the first zoom.
You can have more than one zoom region. They will all appear in the same zoom region line on the timeline, you will have to just move then to their designated time on the timeline.

Hope this helps!
Worked the second time I tried. Thanks!
No problem, glad it is working now!
