Zoom Function Pixelates Image

Hello, I have a series of photos that we're using that we would like to use the "Zoom" function on.
When I do not have the Zoom function enabled everything looks as it should. However when I add Zoom to a photo it becomes pixelated. When you click on the zoom button and it gets larger it looks as it should.
I published to see if it was a preview problem and it appeared the same way. I have photo quality output set to 100%.
I understand that if it was a poor quality image/had a low dpi this could occur when you zoom in, but why is it the image quality getting *better* when we zoom in?
Thank you!

Hi,
Is there an update to this please? I'm finding that my image looks like it's poor quality when you use the zoom function. Even tho the image is good quality...
