Can't say I've seen that before, no. What format is the image that doesn't want to behave? If you haven't already, try saving the image as a .PNG (by right-clicking and choosing "Save as Picture"), insert that .PNG file in place of the old image and see if that improves the quality.
If that doesn't help, are you able to post a .STORY file with one of the problem images, so I can take a look?
