"Zoom Picture" feature causing issues with custom navigation

Nov 05, 2015

Hello eLearning Heroes! I have custom next-back buttons on the bottom right corner of my course, and they all work perfectly.... except a few that use the "zoom picture" (magnifying glass) function. On these, I have to click the "next" button several times to get the trigger to actually work.

I've narrowed it down to the "zoom picture" feature as the culprit, because when I hide them from the timeline everything works perfectly.

The picture(s) on the slide is not laying over my next button, but if I were to click the magnifying glass, it would cover it.

When the picture is in it's normal, smaller state, the next button is clickable and all of my hover/click states work correctly - just the trigger to advance to the next slide doesn't work.

Any thoughts?

Hi April,

Are you also using an animation? I've seen a recent issue reported to our team where a grow animation and a zoom picture caused issues with the "jump to slide trigger". If that's the behavior you have set up I can connect this thread to the report filed with our QA team for additional review. Could you share a copy of this .story file (even just that one specific slide) so that we could take a look at how you've set up your custom button and triggers?

Hello,

Yes, I was also using an animation. Apparently when you combine both the "zoom picture" feature and the animation feature, the "Jump to slide trigger" is affected. I have to click the "next" button the number of times equal to the number of animated zoom pictures on the slide. (for example, if I have 3 pictures with the "zoom" feature and they all animate in, I have to click next 3 times before it jumps).

I could only correct the error by removing either the animation or the zoom picture feature from the slide.

Hello Josh and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you are seeing in your course. I'm not sure that I've seen this myself, but I'd be happy to take a look.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
