5 modules in one Storyline file

Dec 14, 2015

Hi everyone,

I need to build 5 modules in one storyline 2 file.  However I would like to know and understand if we can scored each module on the LMS even if they are in the same file or I need to create different files to each module be graded on the LMS?

Thanks!

I am not sure yet. This subject came up in a meeting with the client and I was confuse if would be possible to score each module individually on the LMS if they were in the same storyline file.

The way that I can see it's exercising blocking to go through the next modules, but at the end a final exam about all content in the modules. That I know it's possible to be scored on the LMS.

I think they want like that because it's a course for iPad. However, we are still discussing about it.

Thanks!

Thanks Sahil.

I explained the situation and they changed their minds. However, now they want 2 assessments in one file.

User start - Pre-assessment - if pass - score on the LMS - they don't need to take the course

User start - Pre-assessment - if fail - go to the module - (at the end) - Post-assessment - if pass - score on the LMS

User start - Pre-assessment - if fail - go to the module - (at the end) - Post-assessment - if fail - retry post-assessment - pass - score on the LMS

I built a test file to see the behavior and I realized Storyline calculate the pre-assessment + post-assessment.

Is there a way to get separate scores from each assessment? Any idea about how I could develop that in the same file?

Valdete:  You can use the SAME test for both pre- and post-assessment, and create a variable to track whether it's the first try or not. Program the results slide so if they fail the first time, the NEXT button goes to the course menu slide or just the first slide of the course content. Be sure to hide the RETRY QUIZ button for the first try, too. But if they pass (the first time or anytime), the NEXT button goes to a conclusion slide.

Check the Articulate tutorials if you need details about how to use variables and how to adjust the NEXT triggers.

Thanks Judy. Ok. I can see that's possible. About the next button I have no problem. But what I can see is that in the post-assessment is calculating the answers of the pre-assessment. That's where I am confuse.

It's one drag-and-drop exercise for pre-assessment and another one (different) for post-assessment. Both have 12 answers to be dropped in 3 different folders.

If I have good and bad answers (failling) in the first one (pre-assessment), the learner get a result and go to the course (that's ok!). At the end, they have to do the post-assessment, but the right answers from the pre-assessment have been sum in the post-assessment.

I would like to have individual results to go to the LMS.

Look at the triggers in the Retry Quiz button. It includes one that basically erases the answers for a given quiz. You can use that trigger before starting the post-assessment to ensure the initial answers are cleared.

However, the method I described is for when the pre- and post-assessment use the same questions. It now sounds like you're using 2 different drag-and-drop exercises.

Does the client actually need to know the learner's score? Or do they just need to know they passed? If they don't need a score, you could have a separate quiz slide appear only after they pass the real assessment. Set up that final "question" to look like an interaction, with just one thing to click so there's no way anyone can fail. Then send the results from that to the LMS. (This trick could be used to "pass" someone after they complete any number of other quizzes in a course.)
