60 Second Tip: Removing Background Noise in Audacity

Hey gang! I thought I'd share a new how-to video I recorded this evening.
I always see people asking questions about selecting a good microphone or improving the quality of their recorded audio narration. Although selecting a good microphone is good idea, one of the quickest and easiest ways to improve the quality of your audio is to isolate and remove ambient background noise. My favorite tool for recording and editing audio is Audacity. I love it, not only because it's easy to use, but also because it's 100% free.
In the video below, I'll show how you can remove background noise in two simple steps. Enjoy!

Thanks Tim! Much appreciated.
Wonderful job, Tim. I was going to create a how-to video for this topic as well, but you've saved me the trouble! Cheers.
That's what I call quick and easy! Thanks for sharing, Tim. :)
Thanks, Trina and Allison!
Love the 60 second format Tim! Well played.
Thanks Jeff. It was originally going to be longer, but I only had 30 minutes or so to produce it. The 60 second thing happened by accident!
Thanks Tim - I planned to set up a portable sound booth this weekend, but didn't get around to it, so I'm looking forward to trying this tip in Audacity this week!
Hi Sara,
I created my own sound booth, just like this one. It works pretty good. I decided to purchase actual acoustic foam from my local guitar shop. It was a little more costly, but works great.
Let me know how it works out!
I agree with Jeff, Tim. Great format. You may have stumbled across the 60-second thing by accident, but it would be a great ongoing series for you!
Thanks Jackie! If only it took 60 seconds to create each one ;)
Thanks for the tip. That is very helpful!
I found how to do this in Audacity a few months back and found it so useful to fix a load of recordings we had done. Nice short video though, something I can share with me team.
Thanks for the tip.
Hey Tim! Much appreciated! It works like a charm, and so easy to do.
Thanks, Rob! I'm super glad to hear that! It's one of my most popular how-to videos.
THANKS!
Tim
