Adaptive learning quiz

Dec 08, 2017

Hi everyone,

I've been reading about adaptive learning and I would like to set up some quizzes in articulate. Ideally, I would like to set up 3 different levels of questions, that could be randomised and then on the results slide it would tell them how they scored and what level they are working at. Also if there's a way for the level they are working at to be reported to the LMS grading, that would be amazing. Does anyone know of any useful sites or links that would enable me to learn how to set this up or find out if all of the above is possible?

Really appreciate any help.

Hello Narissa!

Thanks for popping into the E-Learning Heroes Community with your question!

You can accomplish everything you've mentioned above using Articulate Storyline. You could certainly set up a variety of question slides: https://articulate.com/support/article/Articulate-Storyline-360-Creating-Quizzes-with-Form-Based-Questions

You can do a mix of difficulty levels for your questions (you can make really easy questions and assign them a value of 1 point each, and mid-difficulty questions worth 5 points each, and then high-value questions worth 10 points each, for example): https://community.articulate.com/series/74/articles/articulate-storyline-360-user-guide-how-to-assign-a-score-to-graded-questions

You can then put them inside a question bank to randomize them: https://community.articulate.com/series/74/articles/articulate-storyline-360-user-guide-how-to-use-question-banks

Depending on the learners score (a low score would indicate their level of knowledge is low, etc.) you can let them know what level they are at. Since this is all using quiz slides in Storyline, it could all be reported back  to your LMS: https://community.articulate.com/series/107/articles/articulate-storyline-360-tutorial-how-to-add-quiz-result-slides

Hope this is helpful :) The attached links and tutorials should help get you going. Let us know if you have any additional questions, we're always happy to help :)

Hi,

I built an adaptive quiz with question #1 being difficult, followed by 2 easy questions (#2 and #3) if the learner gets #1 wrong. If #1 is correct, the quiz branches to the next hard question, #4, and it continues. The branching and display of the expected score in the Results slide are fine, but the LMS shows 33% if #1 and other hard questions are correct. It should be 100%. Is there any help for submitting only the score of those questions that were visited?
