Adventure Game Scenario Training, with variables and JavaScript
Jun 21, 2019
This is a scenario-based project I developed for training our production staff, who work on heavy machinery in an industrial plant. They face various learning challenges such as literacy, comprehension and language - English is often not their native language. So a more visual, engaging approach was needed, that would leverage the 'team spirit' of group training. Happily, they loved it and want more! I may have created a monster…
Variables/JS are used to collect a running total, which is then emailed. It would be easy enough to add vars for each slide score, but we only needed the total. It appears scenario results can't be collected via SCORM or TinCan, hence the var/JS solution.
The attached file includes 4 of the 16 questions. Content has been anonymized, a watermark placed on the images (iStock link in the project), plus all responses from the full project have been included (in case you don't speak D&D… lol). Hope you find it useful.

I really enjoyed this! I think the opportunities for turning Storyline/Rise into Choose Your Own Adventure style learning opportunities are endless. Thanks for this very entertaining one.
Nice job.
Great work. I specialize in normalizing content for a lower level of literacy. The interface seems very clear and easy to follow.
Thank you. Great work.
I love this, Catherynne! Thanks so much for sharing :)
Thanks for all the comments, folks! Next one's a space adventure for training on industrial garment driers... explosions, aliens, what could go wrong... haha
