Articulate and LMS
Mar 29, 2012
Good morning - this is a bit of a vague question, but I would like to understand more about Articulate and LMS. Up to this point, the company I have been working for has not had me publish to an LMS - however, we are now working with some clients that want to. Can anyone point me to some materials on LMS in general as well as how and why someone would want Articulate materials there?
I do have two specific questions:
- I have been requested to publish for an LMS, but they don't want anything tracked... from what I see, that doesn't seem to be a possibility - I am thinking of just selecting "Track using number of slides viewed" and just putting 1 slide as the minimum necessary.
- Another module they want to have tracked by quiz results, and want those results (the actual score) tracked by their LMS. I don't see that option, it appears that we can only see Pass/Fail/Complete/Incomplete. Am I missing something?
Thanks all - I look forward to your responses.

Hey Brent . . . I'll try and answer your two specific questions:
One other things . . . the option you pick on the Reporting screen (Completed/Incomplete, Passed/Failed, etc.) is dependent upon the LMS you're using. You'll have to check with the techie folks that run the LMS to choose the option that will allow Articulate to talk to the LMS.
Hi,
Even I had a similar issue and instead of being all settings perfectly fine, it didnt work.
So i divided / published my module into 3 different sections, and published those three sections independently. And post publishing the same I packaged them together using SCORM packager.
Hope this solves ur problem too.
Thanks
Pradnya
P.S: There are many SCORM packager available in the market. Well for me SSP worked.
Thanks to you both, Brian and Pradnya -
Brian - I did see that option on the Tracking tab - however, perhaps I misinterpreted what would happen. I thought that information just fed whether the learner passed or not - does it actually report a number to the LMS, or just Pass/Fail?
For our LMS, Articulate uses the number to determine if the learner passed/failed the course and it supplies the test score to the LMS.
Awesome! Thanks, Brian! Without having access to their LMS to see how it works, there is no way for me to play to understand what is tracked. At least your answer gives me hope that theirs might do the same!
