We are building a number of courses in support of our clients and industry.
We will be working with other SME's (Subject Matter Experts) and need to know what compensation they should get for authoring an eLearning course. Is there a standard royalty structure or is every situation different?
Hmm... this is a very intriguing topic! I've personally never been on a project where the SMEs were paid, because the projects I've worked on has used SMEs who were already employees of the organization.
I'd venture a guess that it's different for each situation and probably has something to do with the hourly rate the person charges for a living. So, a career or professional who makes a lot of money would cost more to be a SME, because their professional time is more "valuable". Just my two cents... I'd love to hear from others on this as well. Thanks for bringing up this very interesting topic!
